The Bachelor of Arts in Filipino (BAFil) is a four-year degree program that provides students with theoretical and practical knowledge and skills in teaching Filipino and its related fields. It prepares students to be fully proficient in using Filipino in various modes of communication. It also provides students a deep understanding and appreciation of Filipino culture and Philippine studies.
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the course can pursue a career as (a) teacher of Filipino language and culture inside and outside the country; (b) writer/staff of newspaper companies; (c) scriptwriter/storyboard writer of a radio and television program; (d) author of books on language and related disciplines; (e) tutor of Filipino as a second language to foreigners and other non-Filipino speakers; (f) disciplinary/social researcher; (g) translator from English to Filipino and other indigenous languages to make better use of knowledge from foreign languages, and others. More importantly, the program also responds to CHED's aspiration to mold pro-Filipino/nationalist students who will never outdo other races and are ready to keep pace in the international arena.
